Hi, I'm Matthew Barmes.

More importantly, I'm someone who has learned that some of life's greatest battles are the ones no one else can see.

For years, I've walked alongside people carrying burdens they felt they had to hide. I've seen how fear, shame, addiction, loneliness, broken relationships, and unanswered questions can quietly affect every part of a person's life. I've also experienced my own hidden struggles and discovered that God's grace is often found in the middle of our deepest battles.

That's why I wrote The War Inside Me. My desire isn't simply to write another devotional—it's to encourage people with honest stories, biblical truth, and the hope found in Jesus Christ. If these pages remind even one person that they are not alone and that God is still at work in their life, then every word written has been worthwhile.

My Heart Behind This Ministry

Everything I've experienced has convinced me that hope grows when people know they aren't fighting alone. My passion is to come alongside people who feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or alone and remind them that hope is found in Jesus Christ.  Whether through writing, speaking, or simply listening, my prayer is that every person I meet discovers they never have to face life's battles alone.

A Verse That Guides This Ministry

Psalm 34:17-18

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;  he delivers them from all their troubles.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
